Who founded ettitude?
ettitude was co-founded by Phoebe Yu and Kat Dey. As a brand, we believe in eco-innovation, and our products are rooted in nature and regeneration. We’re conscious of our impact on the world and local communities, so every decision we make aims to promote change and help improve the earth’s future. We’re on a mission to produce innovative and sustainable textiles and fabrics that benefit people and the planet.
Where is ettitude from?
ettitude is an Australian-founded company with headquarters in Melbourne and Los Angeles, California. Now to the nitty-gritty details. Our products are made in China in cut-and-sew factories certified by ethical third-party auditors, including SEDEX, BSCI, and WRAP. Our raw materials are also sourced in China to reduce carbon monoxide emissions from traveling between the field and the factory.
Is ettitude a sustainable brand?
We’re a sustainable brand offering organically grown bamboo products that are more sustainable, durable, and softer than cotton. Our CleanBamboo® (bamboo lyocell) is the world’s only bamboo fabric free from toxic chemicals. In production, we recycle 98% of water up to 200 times to turn the raw bamboo into a luxuriously soft fabric.
As a certified B Corporation, we believe in supporting people and the planet. That’s why we give back 1% of all sales to environmental non-profits through 1% for the Planet. We’re also committed to giving back to our community. In Australia, we’ve raised money for the Victorian Bushfire Appeal and Wildlife Victoria while donating to WIRES and WWF Australia to rehabilitate and preserve precious native wildlife.
As an ethical brand with cut-and-sew factories audited by SMETA and BSCI, we can ensure the highest ethical standards are met (no greenwashing nonsense). We believe in supporting and bettering the planet and our people. We’re also passionate advocates in the fight against racism and inequality. We’ve contributed to the Movement for Black Lives and the grassroots youth program known as Harlem Grown. And, we’ve supported One Girl, a non-profit that uses education to drive change.
The impact of ettitude
We need to be the change we want to see in the world. So, while we continue to support sustainability initiatives in our communities, we’re always looking for new ways to reduce our own impact.
In 2021, we saved 276,971,397 gallons of water and prevented 875,963 kilograms of CO2 emissions compared to cotton. And, recycled 78,981 plastic bottles to produce our Down Alternative Duvets.
We know our comfort shouldn’t compromise the earth’s resources or people. Our next-gen fabrics are made from regenerative FSC-certified bamboo that gives back to the earth. Plus, all our products use plastic-free packaging and are STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® (aka contain zero toxic chemicals).
Where are ettitude sheets made?
ettitude bedding is made in our manufacturing locations in China, where we source our bamboo. We have cut-and-sew factories near where we source our raw materials to cut down on travel miles that contribute to our carbon footprint. P.S. we’re Climate Neutral Certified, so we offset all the carbon emissions it takes to make and deliver our products!
What’s the best way to wash my ettitude sheets?
ettitude sheets and bedding are 100% machine washable and can be washed in cold water using the gentle or delicate cycle. They can also be dried with low heat or on a line (whatever you prefer). We recommend avoiding dryer balls and washing with rough fabrics to prevent excess pilling. Worried about sheet wrinkles? You can reduce wrinkles by shaking your sheets before putting them in the dryer and hanging them.
Keep in mind that our Bamboo Comforters are dry clean only, so you can’t wash them like your sheets or pillowcases. We suggest finding an eco-friendly dry cleaner in your area that knows how to care for bamboo duvets. If you’d rather wash your comforter at home, we’d opt for the Down Alternative Comforter. It can be washed in the machine with like fabrics in cold water on a gentle or delicate cycle and dried on low heat.
We recommend washing our products with a mild, sustainable detergent. You can also use natural detergents like white vinegar or baking soda to keep your white sheets bright and crisp. It’s best to avoid chemicals like bleach on your sheets because they can cause permanent damage. Instead, treat stains by soaking them in a gentle detergent and using a stain remover that you’ve tested on your ettitude drawstring bag (it’s made of the same material as your bedding)!
Finally, you should avoid harsh solutions, such as fabric softener or brightener, that can ruin the sheets by being too abrasive. Remember, unique fabrics call for unique care.
