I am Renee Peters, originally from Nashville, Tennessee, now residing in New York.
What do you do?
I am a model.
What is your typical morning like?
I make my bed first. I like having a clean and orderly space to get ready in and to come home to after a hectic day. Then I usually head to the kitchen to boil water for my French press coffee. While my water is boiling, I prepare a glass of freshly squeezed lemon juice and warm water. I always drink this first thing, along with another big glass of water, to balance out the dehydrating and acidifying effects of that my coffee habit has on my body. As a model, I need to have a clean and fresh face for castings and jobs, so I always wash my face, followed by my favourite, all-natural toner – tea tree oil & water. Lastly, I put on Dr. Hauschka’s Mellissa Day Cream, brush my teeth, and run out the door.
Any bedtime rituals?
My night time routine is very similar to my mornings’. I apply vitamin E oil after toning.
What’s your favourite breakfast? Or if you prefer brunch?
I often have my meals later than usual. Around brunch time, I am most likely to start with a green juice and a grapefruit. I could eat grapefruit everyday for the rest of my life. Its sweet and sour juicy goodness never gets old!
Tips for a restful night’s sleep?
Exercise 5 to 6 days a week really helps me be tired by bedtime. Once I am in bed, I think fresh sheets, enough warm blankets, and a pillow for between my legs (I’m a side sleeper) help me feel comfortable and in a good position for a great nights’ sleep.
How do you cure morning blues?
I like to think of all the things and people I am thankful for. It’s so easy to forget that simply waking up is a gift, and reminding myself of this and all of the world’s bounty really gives me a better perspective to start the day.
What’s the top two must-haves in creating the perfect bedroom space?
I am really in to Feng Shui. This influences my aesthetics as to furniture placement, and light, but also in what i choose to include and leave out of my bedroom. I think plants are very beneficial because of the oxygen and purifying qualities they provide, so I always include them. The second must have, isn’t a “thing” in particular, but more so an environment that I create. I want organic, light, and natural materials to surround me. I use lots of whites and earth tones to decorate, and choose materials that are organic or natural.
What does a sustainable lifestyle mean to you?
“Buy less. Choose Well”. vivienne Westwood pretty much sums it up for me. I buy quality that will last and that comes from an origin which is minimally impacting the Earth in a negative way. I always , and try to repurpose, reuse, and recycle as much as possible, and use my dollar too support companies and products that I feel align with my personal philosophy.
