Meet ettitude ambassador, Jennifer Nini, founder and blogger of Eco Warrior Princess, from Melbourne.
Who are you?
My name is Jennifer Nini and I am the creator of Eco Warrior Princess, an eco blog that promotes greener living.
Where are you from?
I was born in Manila, Philippines but my family moved to Melbourne, Australia when I was 2 and that’s where I grew up.
Where do you reside now?
I recently moved to our farm property in Glen Echo, a small inland town between the Fraser and Sunshine coasts.
Do you have any morning rituals?
I wake up at 4:30am each morning and will drink a glass of water. Then I will drink either a coffee or a lemon and ginger tea depending on how I am feeling. I then check emails and social media notifications. My business partners and I are establishing a permaculture farm and organic food business so we have a morning meeting that normally starts anywhere from 4:45am-5am and usually runs for an hour. When this finishes, I will often do the salute to the sun yoga sequence (Surya Namaskara otherwise known as Sun Salutation) to help me ease into the day.
Any bedtime rituals?
After brushing my teeth, I usually drink a glass of water before going to bed and will pour a glass of water to place on the nightstand so that as soon as I wake up, I can rehydrate. I will also read a chapter or more of a book (I usually have 4 or 5 books on the go) before lights out.
What’s your favourite breakfast? Or if you prefer brunch?
A raw green smoothie that includes many fresh ingredients from my veggie gardens such as kale, silverbeet and lettuce and will drink 2 glasses of it.
Tips for a restful night’s sleep?
Drink chamomile tea to help you relax. Invest in quality pillows and bed sheets for superior comfort. Wear loose breathable clothing. Put your mobile phone on to the ‘Airplane Mode’ setting so you don’t get woken up through the night. It also helps cut off the amount of electromagnetic radiation (EMR) that is emitted through your phone so you’re not absorbing harmful EMR whilst you sleep.
How do you cure morning blues?
Read an inspiring quote or a positive affirmation followed my garden chores. Being with my plants and flowers is actually a form of meditation, helping to heal any negative emotions I may be experiencing.
What’s the top two must-haves in creating the perfect bedroom space?
Fresh flowers and plenty of aromatic candles to create the perfect ambience.
Living a sustainable lifestyle is not just about buying ‘eco’. It is about thinking ‘green’ in every aspect of your life – from how much you consume; how much energy you use; what you do with your waste; what types of food you eat; the activities you participate in and the government policies you support.
A favourite quote?
Be the change you want to see in the world by Mahatma Gandhi – for obvious reasons 🙂
