The 2020s are going to be busier than ever. There’s more information to consume, more products to buy, more people to connect with, and more things to do. It’s not a surprise that we all want to keep up and make the most of it all!
But how can we keep up and keep calm in these busy years ahead of us? How can we stay connected, influential and with a sense of meaning?
Our team at Ettitude curated the following 7 resolutions to together strive to be better: better for ourselves and for our planet.
Resolution 1: Connect with Nature
Biophilia is humanity’s innate need to connect with nature and the natural environment. Nature is full of forces we cannot yet fathom – and when left untouched it works in harmony with our body and spirit. For the 2020’s, it’s time to connect with the wholesome things nature has to offer such as fruits, veggies and organic sheets.
Resolution 2: Remove Toxic from Your Life
Let’s start this new decade striving for less negative emotions, toxic foods, and toxic products in our lives. Some items in our life might be super toxic, but we just don’t know it. Did you know that conventional cotton uses 11% of the world’s pesticides and 24% of the world’s insecticides?
Resolution 3: Know the Source and Consume with Purpose
We are seeing that unbridled mindless consumerism is destroying the environment, it’s time that we shift to mindful consumerism. With ever-increasing options to choose from and so much readily available information online. It’s easier now and more important than ever to research what’s behind a company, their products, and their supply chain.
Resolution 4: More Impact, Less Footprint
It’s estimated that each one of us is making 35,000 decisions a day. It can be easy to feel overwhelmed. It’s important to remember that every day there are opportunities to choose better options for our planet and those around you. Simply choosing more sustainable products can have a big impact. For example just by choosing to buy your sheets from bamboo lyocell rather than cotton you are saving around 3,031 gallons of water.
Resolution 5: Treat Yourself
Our lives are getting louder, filled with constant distractions vying for our attention. As we progress further into the future this isn’t going to change anytime soon, we will have more information to process. That’s why it’s so important to focus and appreciate life’s little pleasures, which can help calm and center us. When we make our element cozy, healthy and mindful, we can tune out of the noisy world and tune in to ourselves. If it’s a warm cup of tea, a book, meditation, or the touch of vegan silky PJs – take some time for yourself.
Resolution 6: Sleep More
Sleep has been proven to improve mood, health, mental health, etc. With books like While We Sleep becoming a New York Time’s Best Seller, it’s clear that sleep health is trending. Resolution 7: Dream Big & Act
The new decade calls us to play a more active role in our world. We see problems like global warming, environmental degradation, and plastic pollution getting worse. In order to change the tides we need more dreamers and more doers to help make the world a better place. And with our interconnected world and advanced technologies, it’s easier than ever before for anyone to start building something that can have a huge impact.
